Why do book printing costs vary so much?
Numerous technologies are utilised for printing books. Many of the larger international companies can produce books cost-effectively on large inkjet presses; however, there is a trade-off. You can only print your books in all colour or all black and white. If you want colour pages throughout your book, they may tell you that only certain pages can be in colour.
At The Book Printing Company, we use toner-based digital presses. This enables us to print any combination of colour and black and white that you wish. Our technology allows you to have your book published the way you want and cost-effectively. Why pay for full colour if you don't need to.
The other consideration is that we don't hide our printing costs in the commission charged on the sale of your book. The price shown in our calculator is the total cost with no hidden charges, and if you order 50 Author copies of your book, you will receive at least 50 books. Nowhere in our terms and conditions do we hide a clause which states that you could receive up to 5% less than your order quantity.
