First things first; Our simple book submission calculator enables you to control the format, size, and book printing cost.
However, if you need to speak with a real person drop us an email with your contact details and one of our staff will get back to you as soon as possible.
Utilising the drop-down menus you get to choose paper types, colour and the binding methods that you prefer. Once you have selected the parameters for your books, you will then be asked to upload your working files. A reply email address is essential so that we can arrange a digital proof of your job for pre-press approval.
Once approved, your books will go into our production schedule. In most cases, your book will be completed within 7-10 working days from approved artwork. However, during busy times such as Christmas this time-frame could increase to 10-15 working days from approved artwork. If for any reason you require your order within a shorter time-frame, please send us a message through our contact form before placing your order. If your desired size, paper stock or quantity isn't available please fill out the contact form and we will get back to as soon as possible.
For the best book printing result, the minimum number of pages you must have in a perfect bound book is 48 and the maximum number of pages is usually 240, however, above 240 pages can be done (Depending on the stock thickness for internal pages). For less than 48 pages, wire, comb or saddle stitching would be the most suitable form of finishing. If your self-published book is outside of those specifications and you would like to discuss it with us further , please contact us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Saddle stitching is suitable for books which have 48 pages or less.
Please Read Before Ordering
All books are printed double sided unless otherwise advised. Before production of your self-published book commences a soft PDF proof will be supplied for approval. The soft PDF proof may not show potential postscript issues such as transparency, overprint or gradient issues. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the artwork has been correctly prepared for commercial book printing and to check that all aspects of the artwork are correct, including spelling and grammar. To avoid printing issues, we recommend customers consult an experienced pre-press graphic designer if they do not understand bleed or how to prepare artwork correctly for commercial book printing. We take no responsibility for artwork supplied where fonts are not correctly embedded.Fonts must be fully embedded or outlined (converted to curves)in all supplied artwork.
Depending on your artwork, the finished size of your self-published book may vary slightly from the sizes indicated in the calculator. In some instances the combined outcome of digital printing and the perfect binding process may vary up to 1 - 2mm from any one side after trimming. Because of this we take no responsibility for covers or text pages which use a border as part of the artwork. If the finished product has varying border widths, this can not be helped.
Colour matching can vary depending on the device which is used to print your book. The Book Printing Company will not be held responsible for complete colour accuracy. Please ensure that all files are converted to CMYK for best results. If a file is received which is not CMYK it will be converted through our automated processes. This can alter the final output colour.
The artwork is to be supplied as two separate files (preferably as press quality PDF's). The first being the internal text. The text is to be supplied as single pages, not as spreads. The second file is the cover file. This file should include the cover as a spread. This means that the front, back and spine should be supplied as one page. Please ensure that the appropriate bleed and trim marks are included. If you are unsure about how to set up your bleed and trim please go to the Authors Checklist and view our sample diagram.
We at the Book Printing Company reserve the right to cancel an order before production and refund the vendor any monies paid. Once a job has began production cancelling your order will incur a fee. For more information please read our terms and conditions.
