To ensure that your printing project is without problems, we need to check on a few things first before you upload your files.

  • If you have used Canva to design your book can you please contact us via our contact form before placing your order. Canva can cause problems with bleed and trim and page margins, in particular the binding edge. Some adjustments may be required to your file.
  • Have you used a graphic designer that has used the Ingram spark cover design software. If so, please use our spine-width calculator to ensure that your cover and spine suit Australian paper standards. A minor adjustment may be necessary to ensure a good fit.
  • If you have changed the type of paper you last had your book printed on, again please use the spine-width calculator to ensure that your spine is suitable. A small adjustment may be required.
  • If you have created your book in word please ensure that the size of your word document is the size that you want your book to be printed. Do not include your cover pages in your book text files. It will throw out your page margine and page numbering.

What is the max page count on 80 gsm paper?

Paperback (perfect) and hardcover: typically up to 700 pages. Saddle stitched: up to 48 internal pages. Wire, coil or comb: about 10 to 300 pages depending on coil size.

How do I calculate spine width?

Rule of thumb: spine_mm = (page_count / 2) x paper_caliper_mm.
