This Privacy Policy explains how Osborne Pty Ltd trading as The Book Printing Company (“The Book Printing Company”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information through:

- The Book Printing Company Android and iPhone mobile applications;
- our online quotation calculators, customer accounts, shopping cart and ordering services; and
- our customer service, file-transfer and book-production processes.
We are committed to handling personal information responsibly and in accordance with applicable Australian privacy laws.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use our services, we may collect:
- your name;
- email address;
- telephone number;
- billing, delivery and postal addresses;
- account username, user ID and securely protected authentication information;
- book title, printing specifications, quote information, order instructions and correspondence;
- purchase, transaction, invoice and order history;
- files and documents that you choose to send to us for quotation, design, proofing or printing;
- information submitted through registration, contact, quotation and order forms;
- IP address, browser type, device or session identifiers and website cookies;
- website and app interactions, such as pages or calculators used, where analytics are enabled; and
- other information you voluntarily provide when communicating with us.
We do not request access to your phone contacts, precise location, photographs, microphone, calendar or text messages through The Book Printing Company mobile app.
2. How we collect information
We may collect information when you:
- visit or interact with our website or mobile app;
- use an online quotation calculator;
- create or update an account;
- place an order or make a payment;
- contact us by form, email or telephone;
- send files through WeTransfer or another agreed transfer service; or
- otherwise provide information to us during the quotation, design, printing or delivery process.
Our mobile app provides access to functions delivered through our website. Information entered into website pages opened from the app is handled in the same way as information entered directly on the website.
3. Why we collect and use information
We use personal information to:
- provide quotations and calculate printing, packaging and delivery costs;
- create, manage and secure customer accounts;
- process orders, payments, proofs, production and delivery;
- communicate about quotations, artwork, orders, payments, production or customer support;
- receive, check and produce customer-supplied book files;
- maintain transaction, taxation and business records;
- prevent fraud, misuse and unauthorised account access;
- maintain and improve our website, app, calculators and services;
- comply with legal obligations and resolve complaints or disputes; and
- send marketing communications where you have requested them or where permitted by law.
You can browse much of the website and use our app without creating an account. Certain information is required if you choose to register, place an order, request delivery or ask us to contact you.
4. Payments
Payments may be processed by PayPal or another payment provider displayed at checkout. Payment providers handle payment information under their own privacy policies and security arrangements. We do not store complete credit-card numbers or card security codes. We retain transaction details such as the payment status, amount, date, order number and payment reference where required for order administration, accounting and legal purposes.
5. File transfers
Large book and artwork files may be sent using WeTransfer or another agreed file-transfer provider. When you use an external transfer service, that provider may collect and process information under its own privacy policy. Please send files only to an authorised The Book Printing Company email address and include only the information needed for your quotation or order.
6. Cookies, session information and analytics
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to maintain secure login sessions, remember shopping-cart information, operate website features, prevent misuse and understand website or app interactions. Where analytics services are enabled, they may process information such as IP address, device or browser information, pages visited and actions taken.
You can control or delete cookies using your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent account, cart or checkout functions from operating correctly.
7. When we disclose information
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:
- employees and authorised contractors who assist with quotations, design, printing and customer service;

- WeTransfer or another file-transfer provider selected by the customer;
- couriers, freight companies and delivery providers;

We do not sell personal information. Service providers are given only the information reasonably required to perform their services.
8. Overseas processing
Some service providers, including payment, file-transfer, hosting or analytics providers, may process or store information outside Australia. The countries involved may vary according to the provider’s systems and service locations. We take reasonable steps when selecting and using service providers, but overseas recipients may be subject to privacy laws that differ from Australian law.
9. Data security

Account information that is no longer required may be deleted or de-identified. Order, invoice, payment, taxation, fraud-prevention, dispute and legal records may be retained for the applicable statutory or business-record period.

You may ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. In limited circumstances, access or correction may be refused where permitted by law; if this occurs, we will explain the reason where required.
12. Marketing communications
Where we send marketing communications, you may unsubscribe using the link provided or contact us directly. Service communications about an existing quotation, account or order are not marketing messages and may still be sent when necessary.
13. Children
Our ordering services and mobile app are intended for adults. We do not knowingly provide customer accounts or accept orders from children under 18 years of age.
